Beer Style Notes
Flying Dutchman: Flip Flopped White Socked Strong Hopped White IPA White IPA 3: refreshing, berryish and kinda wit-like, not a typical IPA.
Hiisi: Pirunpelto Steinbier 3.5: first steinbier in a long long while, malty and sweet with slight tastes of smoke and herbs in the mix.
Iso-Kallan: Bière de Garde Saison 3.5: better than expected; sweet, with fruits and biscuits in the grainy taste.
Kallio Brewery & Birra Amiata: Madáhàn Tropical Milk IPA IPA 3.5: fruity hopping, the lactose remains AWOL in the taste.
Kimito Brewing: Brown Ale Brown ale 1.75: mild, watery, lacking the malts and sweetness of the genre.
Laitilan: Savu India Pale Ale IPA 3: smoky and hoppy, even though I’m fond of both the combo is less than the sum of its parts.
Lammin Sahti: Hippiäinen Traditional ale 3.25: a decent return to form from the uneven brewery, the beer’s yeasty, but that’s par for the course for the genre.
Malmgård: Amarillo Tripel Tripel 3.5: drier and less malty than expected, hopping has been blended in nicely. Very low carbonation.
Mallaskosken: Black Blueberry Wheat Fruit beer 2: unbalanced, even the blueberry taste has oddly mutated into something less than pleasant.
Mathildedalin Kyläpanimo: Kevät Saison 3: needs to be seriously cold, odd sidetaste creeps up as the beer warms, the green currant leaves are a nice touch.
Beer Hunter’s: Mufloni Doppel-Apfel Weizenbock Weizenbock 3.25: a mish-mash of tastes that somehow is pulled together to a coherent brew.
Mustan Virran: Pistolekors Porter Baltic porter 3.25: an average porter that has no excesses.
Nokian: Keisari One-Off Nunna Belgian strong ale 3.5: sweet and malty, but somehow hollow belgian imitation.
Pyynikin: Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Imperial stout 4.5: took its sweet time to arrive, but was easily the best of the bunch, a complex and warming taste that wallows initially in bourbon but has subtle elements (vanilla, chocolate) in it as well.
Rekolan Panimo: Kaffe Stout Milk stout incomplete: haven’t tasted this coffee-supplemented milk stout yet (and am not sure whether I even have a bottle in the stash).
Ruosniemen Panimo: Komissaari Belgi Tripel 2.75: not Ruosniemi’s finest hour – yeastily one-dimensional disappointment.
Saimaan: Brewer’s Special Copper Mallet Red Ale Red ale incomplete: another beer missing in action.
Stallhagen Raspberry Stout Stout incomplete: haven’t logged this (but I do distinctly recall not liking it).
Suomenlinnan Panimo: Zander Stout Stout 3.75: dry, dark and roasty.
Vakka-Suomen Panimo: Prykmestar Saazer Pils Pils 3.5: quite a bit hoppier than the average pils. Would be great as a summer beer, too, so hopefully this will be a semi-permanent addition to the Prykmestar portfolio.
