2016 – Käsityöläisoluet

Beer Style Notes
Bryggeri: Rosé Sour ale 3, expected to like this more (and I did, when this was on draft in the brewery). Odd, wine-y, not really that sour.
Humalove: First Love IPA 3.5, taste thinner than what the heavy-handed hopping provides.
Iso-Kallan Panimo: Salmiakki Porter Porter 2.5, essency – the promised salmiakki is actually cough medicine.
Birra Amiata: Lura Sahti N/A, skipped this, the batch was delayed and the price was unbearably high (mainly on account of the large bottle, obviously).
Laitila: Lakritsi Portteri Porter 3.5, better than its salmiakki-cousin (then again, I’ve always preferred the low-salt variety). It’s pretty one-dimensional (licorice & sugar), and needs warming up to loosen the taste.
Lammin Sahti: Ruisrääkkä Strong ale (rye) 4, very robust maltiness in the taste. Soft and sweet. Altogether a better rye beer than I prejudicedly thought.
Maku Brewing: ESB ESB 2.5, not my favorite genre, and not that bitter a beer for an ESB, either. Not Maku’s finest moment by any means.
Mathildedalin Kyläpanimo: Pirske Belgian ale 4.25, very well executed belgian ale. Fresh, with a strong hint of fruit in the taste.
Mufloni Imperial Stout Imperial stout 4.25, black and dry, a faultlessly implemented imperial stout. Hops-provided bitterness never overwhelms the multi-faceted taste.
Hiisi: Loviatar Barleywine (rye) 4, the rye is strong, the taste is strong overall, and it hides the 10+ ABV well. Nonetheless the beer gives off a bit of an unripe experience. Will return to this after a bout of maturation.
Pyynikin Käsityöläispanimo: Sunrice IPA DIPA 3.5, first rice-IPA tasted as far as I know. Mild, far milder than the double-IPA label suggests.
Rekolan Panimo: Musta Valssi Black lager 4, emboldens the taste over the milkstore version.
Ruosniemen Panimo: Musta Lomittaja Saison 4.5, a smoked saison, very well realized. One of the true highlights of this year’s batch.
Brewer’s Special Rye IPA Rye IPA 3, non-existent carbonation, bitter, strong malting.
Stadin Panimo: Wilhelm I Imperial pilsner 4, roasty and dark, not the usual terms applied to a pilsner.
Stallhagen: Beebock Bock (with honey) 3.75, best of Stallhagen’s honey beers. No caramel, just honey.
Suomenlinnan Panimo: Foil Hat B Weisse Berliner weisse 2.25, I truly wanted to like this, but failed. Low on carbonation, high on cassis, feels and tastes fruit juicy.
Teerenpeli: Julmajuho Porter 4, smoky and smooth porter, full in taste, not watery or otherwise disappointing.
Prykmestar Kaura Stout Oatmeal stout 3, watery and bland (way overshot the mark in the original review – possibly over-excited to start the campaign).
